Grammy Awards 2015

Exactly a week ago I wast at the Grammy Awards 2015 Ceremony with my talented friend and nominee Emilio Solla y La Inestable de Brooklyn. By the way, nominated for Best Latin Jazz Album of the Year “Second Half”.

Now back in NY I am still trying to get around the idea of being there and seeing live all these incredible artists, musicians, engineers, composers and creative people from all different fields, all together in this celebration of music.

The New York Peruvian Film Showcase September 16 – 19, 2014

The Fifth Edition of the New York Peruvian Film S h o w c a s e (NYPFS) will be dedicated to Peruvian archeology and will take place from September 16 to September 19, 2014, at Instituto Cervantes, 211 East 49th St., New York City. This celebration of Peru’s historical legacy will present 13 films from the last 50 years, including documentaries, features, shorts, and video art, as well as an homage to the life and work of the Peruvian documentary film director, producer and cinematographer Roberto Guerra, who left us this past January. Guerra ́s films are international in scope and of timeless significance. Major networks in more than thirty-five countries have broadcast over thirty of his films and many of them have been featured in international festivals in New York, Edinburgh, London, Cannes and Los Angeles.On Friday September 19 the internationally acclaimed filmmaker Claudia Llosa will present her short film Loxoro, winner of a Teddy Award at the 2012 Berlin International Film Festival 2012. Llosa ́s movie The Milk of Sorrow was the first Peruvian film to win the Golden Bear award in the 59th Berlin International Film Festival. The film selection will also present, among many other groundbreaking works, The Mute, from award winning emerging directors Daniel and Diego Vega, and Dirge for a hug, from the legendary filmmaker Nora de Izcue, who is best known for her projects that reflect the daily life of the humble communities of inner Peru.The Fifth Edition of the New York Peruvian Film Showcase is directed and produced by the photographer and filmmaker Lorry Salcedo Mitrani, in collaboration with UCP Backus & Johnston and the Wiese Foundation. NYPFS is made possible thanks to the generous support of Mr. Guzman Aguirre Altamirano, Ms. Martha Meier Miro Quesada, Mrs. Ana Maria Estrada de Rosen and Mr. Carlos Sandoval de la Cruz, President of the Regional Government of La Libertad.

New York City Ballet and JR

Following the inaugural 2013 installation LES BALLETS DE FAILE, New York City Ballet is proud to collaborate with the French artist known as JR for the second annual Art Series.

Exhibiting freely in the streets of the world, JR catches the attention of people who are not typical museum visitors. His largest project to date, INSIDE OUT, was born in 2011 when JR won the TED prize and called for the creation of a global art project with the potential to change the world. Transforming messages of personal identity into public works of art, more than 172,000 people have taken part in nearly 8,600 locations around the world.

JR will share his Art Series installation during three special performance evenings — January 23, February 7, 13 — when every seat in the house is available for just $29. On these evenings, every audience member will receive a takeaway created specifically for this event.

Toco tu boca, con un dedo toco el borde de tu boca, voy dibujándola como si saliera de mi mano, como si por primera vez tu boca se entreabriera, y me basta cerrar los ojos para deshacerlo todo y recomenzar, hago nacer cada vez la boca que deseo, la boca que mi mano elige y te dibuja en la cara, una boca elegida entre todas, con soberana libertad elegida por mí para dibujarla con mi mano por tu cara, y que por un azar que no busco comprender coincide exactamente con tu boca que sonríe por debajo de la que mi mano te dibuja.

Me miras, de cerca me miras, cada vez más de cerca y entonces jugamos al cíclope, nos miramos cada vez más de cerca y nuestros ojos se agrandan, se acercan entre sí, se superponen y los cíclopes se miran, respirando confundidos, las bocas se encuentran y luchan tibiamente, mordiéndose con los labios, apoyando apenas la lengua en los dientes, jugando en sus recintos donde un aire pesado va y viene con un perfume viejo y un silencio. Entonces mis manos buscan hundirse en tu pelo, acariciar lentamente la profundidad de tu pelo mientras nos besamos como si tuviéramos la boca llena de flores o de peces, de movimientos vivos, de fragancia oscura. Y si nos mordemos el dolor es dulce, y si nos ahogamos en un breve y terrible absorber simultáneo del aliento, esa instantánea muerte es bella. Y hay una sola saliva y un solo sabor a fruta madura, y yo te siento temblar contra mí como una luna en el agua.

Contemporary Peruvian Film Showcase NYC – Exposicion Fotografica LIMA 130K

Nueva York (5 de septiembre, 2013) – El Festival de Cine Contemporáneo Peruano de Nueva York anuncia su programación para el 2013. En esta ocasión se celebra el Quinto Centenario desde que Vasco Núñez de Balboa divisó por primera vez el Océano Pacífico y la ciudad de Lima, al ser la única capital de América Latina que linda con este océano; así como, la creación de La Alianza del Pacífico, un bloque comercial de América Latina, con miras a convertirse en el bloque comercial más grande y ambicioso de Latinoamérica,  conformado por: Chile, Colombia, México y Perú.

La cuarta edición del festival tendrá lugar los días 17, 18, 24 y 25 de septiembre del 2013 (programa adjunto) en el Instituto Cervantes de Nueva York (211 E 49th St). Este año la programación cuenta con 14 películas entre las que se encuentran documentales, largos y cortos. El momento estelar de esta edición será la proyección del documental Kon-Tiki, única película noruega ganadora de un Oscar a mejor documental en 1951, basado en la expedición Kon-Tiki expedición liderada por el explorador y escritor noruego Thor Heyerdahl que partió de Lima hacia la Polinesia y cambió la teoría migratoria hacia aquella parte del mundo.

El Festival de Cine Contemporáneo Peruano de Nueva York 2013 ha sido comisariado por el fotógrafo y cineasta Lorry Salcedo Mitrani, y producido en conjunto con la Misión Permanente del Perú ante las Naciones Unidas y la alcaldia de la ciudad de Lima. 

Por primera vez en esta cuatro ediciones, se incluye una muestra fotográfica, Lima 130K, como complemento al festival temática de este año. Esta exposición ha sido comisariada por Carlos Caamaño y la componen 15 trabajos realizados por los fotógrafos más relevantes de la escena contemporánea del Perú. La muestra tendrá lugar del 17  de septiembre al  4 de octubre del 2013, en la galería del Instituto Cervantes de Nueva York (211 E 49th St).

                       Exposición Fotográfica Lima 130K

 Lima 130K propone un recorrido –casi maratónico, de largo aliento y gran alcance- que intenta revisar la antagónica relación existente entre esta ciudad y sus fértiles mares. Desde la céntrica y limeña Costa Verde, hasta sus límites cardinales del norte y el sur, un grupo de artistas -con base fotográfica y de amplia brecha generacional- emprende un trayecto por los 130 kilómetros de franja costera, buscando representar las formas en que la ciudad se relaciona con el Oceano Pacífico.

CONTEMPORARY PERUVIAN FILM SHOWCASE NYC 2013

The Contemporary Peruvian Film Showcase is proud to announce the film line-up for 2013, celebrating the 500th anniversary of Vasco Nunez de Balboa’s first sighting of the Pacific Ocean and the city of Lima, the only Latin American capital city bordering the Pacific Ocean, and the creation of the Pacific Alliance, a Latin American bloc composed of Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru.

The festival, which returns to New York City for a fourth year, will take place on September 17, 18, 24 & 25, 2013 (program attached) at the Instituto Cervantes – New York (211 E 49th St). This year’s program includes a diverse schedule of 14 features, shorts and documentaries. The festival highlight will be the screening of Kon-Tiki, the 1951 Academy Award Winner for Best Documentary Feature, a about the Kon-Tiki expedition led by Norwegian explorer and writer Thor Heyerdahl.

The 2013 Contemporary Peruvian Film Showcase is curated by the photographer and filmmaker Lorry Salcedo Mitrani, and produced in conjunction with the Permanent Mission of Peru to the United Nations and The City of Lima.

For the first time, the festival will also feature a photo exhibition, Lima 130K. This show, will align with the festival’s theme, is curated by Carlos Caamaño, and comprises 15 groundbreaking artworks by the most prominent photographers in the contemporary Peruvian art scene. The exhibition will run from September 17 through October 4, 2013, at the Instituto Cervantes art gallery (211 E 49th St).

Zaha Hadid en Italia…Museo de la Montaña Messner

Zaha Hadid ha lanzado un diseño fuera de serie para el Museo de la Montaña Messner, en Italia. Construido sobre una roca, el museo contará con tres niveles de shows en constante cambio, un auditorio, áreas de exposición y una colección permanente de herramientas e imágenes de la famosa alpinista Reinhold Messner. Se espera su apertura a mediados de 2014.

Zaha Hadid ha sido elegida para el diseño del sexto y último Museo Messner de Montaña (MMM) en Plan Corones, lugar también conocido como Kronplatz, situado en Tirol del Sur (Italia). Aquí se encuentra la estación de esquí más moderna de los Dolomitas, y una de las mejores de Europa.

El citado museo tiene parte de su estructura en el interior de la montaña, y aunque los textos que acompañan a estos renders especifican que se trata de un trabajo que se integra en el entorno.

Aparte de los contenidos (objetos, imágenes, y herramientas relacionadas con el alpinismo) repartidos en tres niveles de exposiciones temporales, y un pequeño auditorio, probablemente lo único interesante del edificio va a ser la panorámica de 240º que ofrecerá de los Alpes.
