It’s only Rock n’ Roll but I like it….
…yes I do
Bob Gruen is an American photographer known for his rock ‘n’ roll photographs. Gruen was born in New York City. He began photographing rock stars with Bob Dylan and served as John Lennon’s personal photographer during his time in New York City.
“Bob’s magical photos and brilliantly telling captions together present a kaleidoscope of John Lennon’s New York Period. It is beautiful, clear, and truthful. I know. I was there.” —Yoko Ono
In 2009, in an exhibition at MoMA called “Looking at Music – Side2”, Bob Gruen created an installation of magazine spreads and covers and posters titled “A Rock and Roll Teenager’s Wall”. On a monitor next to the wall there was a video titled “New York death Cult” made by Bob Gruen as well, of bands playing at Max’s Kansas City in 1976.
Gruen has also been present, in my favorite place in NYC, The Morrison Hotel Gallery, were his work has been selling successfully.
